Codi’r To’s Community Projects
Codi'r To is committed to our community-based music initiative that has been making growing in Gwynedd, North Wales, through its interesting and exciting projects. Founded on the principles of El Sistema, we aim to bring the transformative power of music to the heart of our community, enriching lives and fostering social cohesion. Our latest community project ‘Musical Communities’ has been funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
Clwb Codi’r To
Clwb Codi’r To is our project designed to engage young people in music through regular after-school sessions. The club provides an environment where children from diverse backgrounds can come together to learn, play, and perform music. This project has significantly progressed participating children’s musical abilities as well as improved their confidence and teamwork skills. The club has seen a 77% retention rate among its participants, showing a strong commitment to music learning. We conduct weekly music clubs in both Caernarfon and Bangor, including workshops with professional musicians, and community performances.
Side by Side: Gothenburg
As part of our commitment to broadening horizons, we’ve partnered with international music projects like Side by Side in Gothenburg, Sweden with funding from Taith. This experience allowed young musicians from Gwynedd to collaborate and perform alongside musicians from other countries. The project has provided life-changing experiences for members of Clwb Codi’r To, offering them the opportunity of a lifetime and enhancing their musical development.
School Holiday Clubs
Codi’r To’s School Holiday Clubs offer creative space for children during school breaks. These clubs are packed with musical activities designed to keep young minds engaged and active. These clubs help bridge the gap during school holidays, providing consistent support and engagement for children in the community.
Community Performances
Codi’r To adores being ‘out and about’ in our community, performing at various venues including residential homes, community centers, and even at the homes of our Clwb Codi’r To members! If you would like Codi’r To to perform in the community, please get in touch.
Community Engagement
Codi'r To is deeply committed to involving the wider community in its activities. Our approach goes beyond simply providing music education; we aim to create a sense of belonging and pride within the community. We actively involve families in our projects, recognizing the importance of a supportive environment in a child's musical journey. Our work with local community centers, and other organizations has been very important in reaching a wider audience and ensuring our projects have a lasting impact.
